About the logo
The logo is a representation of the partnerships of the 16 nations that comprise the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF). The circular graphic, or ‘PIF Ring of Progression’ equally represents the unity and common vision of the nations of the Forum. The appearance of the shooting star of federation is a subtle link to this year’s host – Cairns, Australia. The stars are unique to all nations, and a shooting star is a common sight in Far North Queensland’s beautifully clear night sky. It seemed only appropriate to use a shooting star to further enhance the theme of progression and in doing so symbolise forums of the past, present and future. The colours are warm ochres, representational of Australia’s proud Indigenous heritage.
